Referrals
The Totton Men’s Shed is not equipped to meet high-level needs. We are a ‘self-help’ group.
The management team are volunteers, not professionals and many have come to ‘shedding’ in response to their own ongoing needs. Our members are simultaneously volunteers delivering a service and beneficiaries of that same service.
Members of a Shed must be able to take full responsibility for themselves both socially and practically. For example, they will need to find their way into an adjacent building to use the toilet.
We may be able to accept a referred client with greater needs, on condition that a carer attends all sessions of the Shed with the client. The carer must engage with the client and other shed members meaningfully.
Contact ‘Chris Compton’ for any proposed referral. We already have supported members who come regularly to sessions and may be able to accept new members with particular needs.
